The First YMCA In Pomona, California, 1884...(Pomona, named after the Roman Goddess of Fruit, was incorporated into a city in 1888)...The bottom floor was The Pomona Bank while the upper floor was the YMCA Christian Reading Room and served as the Pomona YMCA until 1922 when the now existing building was built at Monterrey and North Garey Avenue in Pomona and which was the former location of The Palomares Hotel, a former big social gathering place in Pomona, which burnt down in 1912......
This is the Palomares Hotel as it is being destroyed by fire in Pomona in 1912...
